It might sound like a scene from out of this world, but this natural phenamenon is real and takes place at selective beaches around the world and Mudhdhoo island of maldives is one of them.
"The light producing natural phenamenon is known as Bioluminescence, is the chemical reaction within the living organism present in the sea water which produces light". Moreover the sea is vast and full of unknown creatures, it is believed that there are several marine animals which are capable of performing light producing action. So, there is no secret but a microorganism called "phytoplankton/plankton" involved behind the mesmerising shining beach. The aquatic microbes are bioluminescent in nature and radiate a vibrant blue light under sea. Therefore, because of this micro-organism the sea shorelines lightup in the magical manner.
Many forms of marine life- from bacteria to algae to jellyfish and even sharks- lightup via a chemical reaction that occures within their bodies or as the result of their intake of small creatures with bioluminescent capabilities. Most organism uses their light organs to flash for periods of less than a second to about 10 seconds occure in a specific spots, such as the dotson squids.
Amazing Fact Pro+ Time :-
1).The bioluminescence of a bio-bay is caused by single-celled micro-organism called dinoflagellates. These microorganism glow briefly, usually in a blue-green color, whenever they are disturbed. This means that every splash and every movement in the water causes the dinoflagellates to lightup in the water, giving the body its distinctive glow.
2).There are bioluminescent dinoflagellates all throughout the ocean, however its rare for them to be present in concentration high enough for them to be noticeable. So, it is nothing but the beauty of nature and can be enjoyed.
3).There are some bioluminescent bay in the world and three of them arre in Puerto Rico.
>> Pureto Rico
Mosquito bay on the island of Vieques has the nick name of the Bioluminescent Bay for the bright plankton that illuminate the water .Unexpectedly , the bay went dark in january 2014. Some scientists theorise that a wind shift pushed many of the microorganism out of the bay, but the various factor that contribute to the bioluminescent make it difficult to say it sure.Thankfully the bay brightened agian in june ,although at a lower intensity.Sundays, as scientists work to study the bay the rest of the week in hopes of preserving the magical glow.
>> San Diego
There is bizarre bioluminescence in this Southern California city, too, , caused when millions of polyplnkton form a group of algae so big they discover nearby water .Suferssee a "red tide"every few year. .When the right combination of water temperature , wind, darkness of the sky and other factors come together , surfers and swimmers can glide through the water with a glow illuminatin their way.
>> Maldives
Mudhdhoo Island (also known as Vaadhoo island) of maldives that glows at night . This glow in the dark is basically a natural phenamrnon called Bioluminescence. This island in Maldives offer a differnt kind of glow. The organism in this beach seem to glow individually, causing the ocean to look like a cluster of bright spot, rather than a glowing ocean.
>> Pandangbai Port
Located on the Indonesian island of Bali, this is the perfect place to see bioluminescence take place under water. You can go snorkeling to view these organism lighting up, or you can take a boat out of the water. The more the organism is disturbed, the brighter they glow.

Some plankton and algae can glow with their own light called bioluminescence. Because it take energy for them to glow, they only produces light in certain conditions. when these conditions are met, they can lightup an entire beach. Some beaches have fairly regular bioluminescence at predictable times if you want to see this natural wonders.
SO, WE CAN SAY THAT THIS IS NOTHING, BUT THE BEAUTY OF OUR WONDERFULL NATURE
